CHEWING AND SWALLOWING THERAPY
Improve Feeding Skills and Promote Proper Digestion
Children and adults can have difficulty with chewing and swallowing. This can cause frustration, food avoidance, and strain on the digestive system.
Dysphagia is the medical word for trouble or discomfort when swallowing. It means a person has a hard time moving food, drinks, or even saliva within the mouth and/or down into the stomach. This happens when the muscles and nerves used for swallowing are not working the right way.
Chewing and swallowing problems can feel scary and frustrating, but they are very treatable. Many people need to strengthen the muscles and improve the brain pathways that control swallowing before their habits can change. This step is often missed by therapists who do not have our specialized training.
Our approach focuses on building strong, healthy patterns first so chewing and swallowing can become safe and comfortable.
